Four small steps

STEP 01 / RECALL
Your turn, then the answer.Language for a changed plan
Read the purpose, say a phrase, then reveal an example. Use at least four phrases with your own details.
Say three sentences: a confirmed arrangement for Friday, an earlier intention for the visit, and an offer you make now.
Answers: compare after your attempt
“We’re meeting the buyer on Friday.”
“We’re going to discuss the promotion.”
“I’ll send the invitation today.”
Other answers may work. Choose a form that expresses your meaning.
STEP 02 / CLEAR SPEECH
Listen. Say it. Use it.Hear the difference
Small vowel changes can change a word. These are short home-practice versions of the listening-and-response work in PronPack 3.1 and 3.2. Follow any extra targets Linh gave you.
A short, relaxed sound in ship. A longer, clearer sound in sheep.
“Please sit here.” “Is this seat free?”
“Fill in the form.” “I feel ready.”
Listen before you choose
Which word do you hear? Then say a short phrase with it.
Hear–say response: your turn
Say the partner word: sit → seat; ship → sheep; fill → feel. Cover one side, say a word and supply its partner. Then use one word in a sentence.
Aim to be easy to understand. Your teacher’s feedback matters more than copying an accent.
STEP 03 / SPEAKING
A first try. Two improvements. A second try.A new time for the visitor
Use the fictional situation below. Prepare keywords, then give a 60–90-second message. Complete the first attempt before opening the model.
A visitor is arriving late
- Original meeting
- Tuesday, 10:00–10:30
- Visitor’s new arrival
- 10:30
- You and your manager are free
- 11:00–12:00
- Room B is free
- 11:00–12:00
Arrange a new 30-minute meeting to discuss the promotion plan. Suggest eleven. Offer to send the new invitation by four today.
To reach Room B: take the lift to floor 2, turn right, then take the second door on the left.
After your attempt: reveal one model
Our visitor is arriving at ten thirty, so we need to change the meeting. Would eleven on Tuesday work for a thirty-minute meeting in Room B? We’re going to discuss the promotion plan. I’ll send the new invitation by four today. Does that work for you?
One possible response. Close it and use your own words.
Record and listen back optional
Audio stays in this tab. Download a take to keep it before leaving.
Or practise aloud without recording.
“I have another call at eleven. Could we meet at eleven thirty instead? How do I get to Room B?”
Your turn: Respond to your manager. Check that the new time fits the room booking. Give the directions and confirm your next action.
After your reply: reveal a possible response
Eleven thirty works. Let’s meet from eleven thirty to twelve in Room B. Take the lift to the second floor, turn right, then take the second door on the left. We’re going to discuss the promotion plan. I’ll send the new invitation by four today.
Other workable answers are possible. Keep the agreed constraints.
Now speak again. Use your two improvements, the new time and fewer notes.

A useful habit
Choose one phrase that was difficult. Say it clearly, put it in a sentence, then use it again tomorrow.
